I have just completed a set of prints ready for Drawn Together's spring markets. I loved drawing the beautiful Fritillaria flower. I’m also working on a few new exciting projects at the moment so watch this space for more information.

It was a great opening night for the End of Coal Exhibition yesterday. We had an extra cause for celebration as it was announced, only the day before, that the UK's remaining coal-fired power stations will be shut by 2025. The exhibition is on until Sunday 22nd November at House of Tamman, 5 Hastings street, WC1H 9PZ London. I created three paper cut artworks for the show called Wind, Wave and Sun. They are all available to buy so please e-mail me (maria@maria-nilsson.com) if you are interested.
I had a lovely day with Drawn Together art collective selling prints at the Horniman Halloween Fair this weekend. There were lots of Halloween themed activities and the fog turned the beautiful gardens suitably spooky for the day. Now we are busy getting ready for Renegade Craft Fair at The Old Truman Brewery next weekend. Hope to see you there!
I'm taking part in "The End of Coal: A vision of the future by artists" exhibition in November. My artwork will focus on renewable energy. The private view will be on Thursday 19th November. Welcome to come along!
I have completed a new set of prints. I'm setting up a shop section of the website soon but for now just fill in the contact form for details of how to buy.
Rebecca and I had a fantastic time selling at Camberwell Fair yesterday. After torrential rain on Friday we were happy to see some sunshine on Saturday. We teamed up with Blue Lion Face Painting for the day and we very much enjoyed having our stall next to Made by Sophie.
Rebecca Hunter, Hazel Adams and I now have prints available to buy in the lovely Vintage Threads shop in Peckham.
Here are some photos from our stall at City Showcase Embankment Summer Market held in the beautiful Embankment Gardens. There were lots of lovely goods for sale. We enjoyed being next to Victoria & Abigail's stall on Friday and Anna Wiscombe on Saturday.
Afterwards we stumbled upon a lovely art show held in a disused pub that is under refurbishment. Artists included Dirk Larsen, Beatrix Blaise, Richard Ashton, Oran Maguire, Chris Concalves and Antimo Magnotta.
Beautiful art, installations and music in a great venue. A nice way to end a day of trading.
Along with the lovely illustrator Hazel Adams and Good Empire I will be down at Embankment Summer Market selling my prints and cards. Pop down and see us on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of May.
I came across this little beauty at the private view of Treasures from our Collection: Mr Marsh's Martinware at Kingston museum. Lovely exhibition and a lovely museum.
I went to see this wonderful installation by Karin Gille at Liljevalchs hubb in Stockholm. Music, meditation and beautiful fabrics. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.
I have just completed a few illustrations from my trip to Iceland in December. The landscape was breathtaking and everyone was so friendly. We visited just before christmas and learned all about the Yule lads and the Yule Cat. Icelandic kids that have been naughty risk being eaten by the Yule Lads' mother Gryla. Santa seems pretty lame in comparison now.
Prints of these illustrations are available to buy in the Drawn Together Art shop.
The lovely photographer Tracy Boyle came to my home studio for a photo shoot.
You can find more examples of her work here
My prints are soon going to be available to buy online.
Welcome!
My new website is finally up and running.
